Let's Sing a Song Empty Let's Sing a Song

Post  Stich Tue Oct 11, 2011 12:02 am

It was another fine day in the school. Quincey had cleaned the halls leaving them spotless so the students could track mud every where. Or at least that's what a very mucky trail would imply. No, this trail was not made by a horde of filthy children, but by one, single teacher. The choir teacher, Hector Capulet. Funny enough, his room was right by an exit, yet he never seemed to realize this and always came through the entrance that seemed to be the farthest away from the room as possible.

Inside the actual room was a horrifying mess to any who hadn't become accustomed to Hector's odd swamp creating ability. Due to him constantly being in the room, a thick layer of swamp muck had coated the floor, deep enough to devour the shoes of students. Quincey had to install a boardwalk because of this. On the planks of wood grew patches of moss, and scattered about were some relatively damp chairs. Out in the muck grew random swamp plants, and stuck in the mud was the teacher's desk and a piano with a CD player on it just barely out of reach of a swampy death. A couple of plastic tubs were stuck by the piano with "CDs" and "Lyrics" messily printed in black sharpy on the sides. In the corner of the room, a god damned tree was growing.

A chorus of frogs sung in the background as Hector made his way to his desk. He fished around in the mud by his desk, and pulled out a large, hockey puck like object which promptly revealed itself to be a mud turtle as it bit him. "Haha, love you to Speedy," Hector chirped and gave the shell a couple of pats. He set Speedy down on his desk, and hopped in his chair. It made a damp, squishing sound when he sat as mold had infested the cushion. Hector didn't seem to mind, and instead stared at the door with eager anticipation.

Let's Sing a Song Empty Re: Let's Sing a Song

Knaw bounced down the hall ahead of Skeet, very excited to get to their next class. The little hunter knew that Choir was Skeet’s favorite class and took extra special care that they were never late. “Come on, Skeet!” Knaw ran back around the smoker who was just taking his sweet time strolling to the class, hands casually stuck in his pockets. The hunter ran against Skeet with his hands out, pushing him on the back to get him to walk faster. “We’re almost there! Heehee!”

/Relax, Knaw we still have five minutes before class actually starts and we’re already here./ The smoker replied by looking over his shoulder and twitching his tongue slightly.

Knaw stopped pushing and poked his head around Skeet, seeing that the target classroom was right in front of them. “Oh…” They could tell of course that this was the classroom for Choir because of the mud seeping out of the bottom of the door and the dirt streaks all around the floor leading into it. A smile split across Knaw’s face and he hopped up to the door, grabbing the slippery door handle and pulling it open. “Mr. Teacher we’re here!” He was immediately greeted with the smell of swamp and the croaking of frogs. He leaped excitedly on one of the walkway planks and ran to the seats. He hopped on one that a frog had made its resting spot and tried to pounce it. Luckily the frog leapt away just before Knaw’s claws could collapse over it. The little hunter however was not disheartened in the least and continued to pounce after it like a playful kitten.

Skeet walked in at a much calmer pace. The nasty smell of the swamp never really bothered him much. Since he was a smoker, all the air he breathed in was pretty horrible quality by the time it reached his lungs. He gave the teacher a weak smile as he passed; if there was one thing he didn’t like about a swampy classroom it was sitting in the seats. Then your ass was wet for the rest of the day, but since this was choir class you always had an excuse to stand up.

Let's Sing a Song Empty Re: Let's Sing a Song

Hector's smile grew when the Hunter and Smoker due walked into the classroom. It always seemed like kids had some excuse to miss this class. Maybe it was the mud, oh well. He watched as the Hunter child tried to catch a frog and chuckled due to the silly cuteness.

"Hi there kids, good tah see yah," Hector beamed. He hopped off his chair and trotted over to the tub marked "lyrics." The sheets had been laminated so he could pass them out. He still had trouble with the CDs of course but that's what volunteers are for.

Hector grabbed a couple sheets and set them on his desk. The Hunter had to be calmed down so he could pass the sheets out so he jumped the frog and handed it to him. Growing up with the little buggers as a main food source led to him being superb at catching them. "Take yer seat please," he said with a smile.

Let's Sing a Song Empty Re: Let's Sing a Song

Knaw lifted his hands up and accepted the frog like it was some holy artifact. “Ooouuahh…” His hooded eyes were wide with amazement as he took it slowly from Hector’s muddy claws. The small hunter held the frog gently against his chest like one would a new born puppy and walked back to his seat like the teacher asked. He sat on a squishy chair quietly and started petting the frog’s head with a single claw softly.

The smoker looked at Knaw and resisted to smack his palm on his forehead. He turned to the teacher who had intended to pass out lyric sheets. Skeet took two and gave Hector a curt yet polite nod. He turned around and walked down the plank walkway riddled with mushrooms to stand next to Knaw’s chair. He handed one sheet to Knaw, who was still entirely focused on his new pet frog. Skeet placed the laminated sheet of paper on Knaw’s head, who seemed entirely unaware of it for a little while it balanced there. The older student couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle.

The frog croaked in Knaw's hands, a bit worried about being eaten. Hector had been known to eat frogs when bored after all. Hector smiled as Skeet passed out the sheets and walked over on all fours to the piano. He hopped up on the chair much like a cat. A at, awkward, unagile cat. He flipped through the laminated scores until he found the match for the sheets he pulled out for the kids.

He pressed a few keys, making sure the swamp hadn't taken a tole on the instrument and was content with the sound. "Alright, so we're gonna do a couple scales then yah can pick some songs yah'd like tah sing, alright?" Hector chirped from his perch on the piano seat. He sat with his feet on the bench in a way similar to how a dog would sit.

Let's Sing a Song Empty Re: Let's Sing a Song

Skeet started testing his voice, opening his throat and softly trying out the different octaves. He always liked warming up; he barely used his voice apart from singing and a few seconds of getting back into the groove of things always helped. Meanwhile, Knaw had hopped up on his chair so he would be equal height with his smoker friend. He held the little frog out at arm’s length and started singing to it, horribly off-key on purpose to be silly. “FaaAAaaaaAAAHH DOOO LAAA SEEEE SEEE I seeeeeEeeeeEeeee yoooooOOooouu little frooggeh!” Then he hugged it, causing it to squeeze out from between his arms like a bullet and fly off somewhere into the swamp. The small hunter noticed and then looked at his empty hands, frowning a little. “Awww….” The paper Skeet had placed on his head earlier finally fell off his head and fluttered to the ground. Knaw quickly bent down and picked it up before the swamp ate it. “Mr. Teacher can we sing Kesha??” He asked, holding the muddy paper to his chest in hope that they would be able to sing his favorite pop artist’s songs. Next to him, Skeet rolled his singular yellow eye; Knaw asked this question every choir class.

Let's Sing a Song Empty Re: Let's Sing a Song

Hector flinched slightly from the off key singing. His doofus smile never left his face though even as he winced. He watched the frog fly over head and laughed. The Hunter child then gave his song request. Kesha? Haha, not one of Hector's favorites but he didn't mind. He hopped off the bench making a loud spat on impact with the swamp and fished through the laminated sheet music. He found what he was looking for and gave the sheets to the boys. "Yer gonna have tah find the CDs in that bin," he said and pointed at the CD tub. "If Ah touch 'em, well, they don't work no more." hector laughed embarrassedly at his ability to destroy technology with one mucky touch.

Let's Sing a Song Empty Re: Let's Sing a Song

Knaw…how many times do I have to tell you we really…can’t sing Kesha. Skeet looked down at his hunter friend as he tried to explain. Knaw just looked at him blankly, so the smoker continued, Dude… all of her songs are like… autotuned. The only way we would be able to sing like her is if we were robots…or something. He shrugged his shoulders innocently then scootched past Knaw’s chair to walk down next to the bin of CDs.

Knaw placed a claw on his lowerlip, pulling it down somewhat as he thought about what his friend said. “Hmm… I GUESS…soo…. But still! Dancin’ to her songs is fun too!” He said happily, his love for dance far exceeding his passion for singing. He turned around and hopped after Skeet, landing down on all fours next to the bin. He craned his head up to try and look inside as the tall smoker sifted through the selection.

Skeet really didn’t know what he was in a mood to sing, so he randomly just pulled out a case. He looked at it, quirking his singular eyebrow when he saw that it was a Rick Springfield CD. He opened the case and popped the CD out, placing it in the CD player. Knaw turned his head and grinned at Hector. “Mr. Teacher! We’re gonna sing Jessie’s Girl. Heee!” He giggled and covered his mouth once the song started playing. Skeet had already returned to his chair at this point, Knaw hurried and hopped back onto his own. He elbowed Skeet a little and winked under his hood. “You ready buddy?” The smoker cleared his throat and batted at Knaw’s elbow, not really wanting to burst out laughing while he tried to sing.

Hector smiled and nodded at the selection the two made, he wasn't picky with what kids liked to sing. He just encouraged them to try their best and have fun. The player was automatic so once the disc was popped in it began to play. Hector hummed along, a habit he had picked up so he would still be able to hear the kids. Regardless of his usual soft spoken voice that could easily go ignored, his singing voice was capable of being easily noticed over others.

Let's Sing a Song Empty Re: Let's Sing a Song

Post  TenderFoot Tue Nov 08, 2011 8:55 pm

The beginning guitar for the song started playing as Skeet hastily started flipping through the lyric sheets they were handed. He knew the song pretty well, but he wanted to make sure that Knaw had a reference to look hat. Finally finding ‘Jessie’s Girl’, he placed it on the stand that was propped up in front of the students. Knaw looked at the paper and beamed, looking back to Skeet with a silent grin of gratitude. Then he opened his mouth and sang the first line of the song, “Jessie is a friii-end. Knaw smirked, knowing that Skeet was going to take the next set of lyrics.

The smoker smiled at Knaw playfully, waiting for his cue before opening his mouth and letting the words flow from his throat, “Yeah I know, he’s a good friend of mine… The smoker’s voice was noticeably smoother than Knaw’s; actually trying to sing well while the small hunter just had fun with it. His voice was also deeper than one might assume from just looking at the smoker. Skeet was quieter at first, testing his voice before the duo grew louder as they sang the next part together.

But lately something’s changed, that ain’t haaa-rd to define… They both looked at each other with mock sadness as they sang with the original’s emotion of inner turmoil. Knaw placed a hand on his heart, tugging at his hoodie with his claws slightly. Although they looked like they were actually into the conflict of the song, there was a small grin tugging at the corners of their lips. Jessie’s got himself a girl, and I wanna make her mine, Then the guitars and drums in the song flared up, Knaw and Skeet spun away from each other and then leaned their shoulders against the other’s. “And she’s watching him with those eyyyy-es…. They pressed their weight on each other, Skeet sinking down slightly like he was in pain from watching the girl he loved go off with his friend. Knaw looked similar, his small hand still clutched above his heart. And she’s lovin’ him with that body, I just know it!" Skeet clenched his fist, a hard determined look forming in his eye as he sang. Even in chorus class, these two just loved drama and couldn’t help but act. After all, they were unstoppable when they were on stage together. “And he’s holding her in his arrr-ms, late late at night…You know I wish that I had, The instruments in the song flared up again loudly, Skeet and Knaw jumped away from each other; the little hunter actually hopping on top of a chair next to Skeet. Jessie’s girl! I wish that I had Jessie’s girl!" They both sang strongly while trying to fight down smiles. Knaw hopped up into the air a little and then landed, immediately starting to play an invisible guitar. Where can I find a woman like that? Skeet leaned towards Knaw slightly, who grinned and continued to rip mad beats on his imaginary instrument. “Like Jessie’s girl! I wish that I had Jessie’s girl!" The black-haired smoker started tapping his foot to the beat, “Where can I find a woman like that?" Knaw threw away his ‘guitar’ as the song suddenly became quieter.

The next part Skeet sang by himself, with a more controlled and toned voice, “I’ll play along with the charade…" He gave Knaw a little smirk as his hunter friend grinned up at him. “There doesn’t seem to be a reason to change.” He looked from Knaw, closing his eye tightly and made himself look frustrated, You know I feel so dirty when they start talking cute…" He opened his yellow eye softly, staring ahead at nothing, he looked as if his heart was breaking. I wanna tell her that I love her, but the point is probably moot…

Then the guitars and drums came back to life in the song, instantly ripping Skeet from his facade. Knaw joined in and they sang together once more. The rest of the song played out, Skeet singing the parts when there was only the lead singer performing, then when the chorus came in Knaw joined. They preformed it dramatically like they were on a theater stage, Hector never really minded. Not as long as they were having fun. When the song was over, Knaw squealed and looked as if he was about to start running laps up the wall. Skeet just panted lightly, tongue hanging out of his mouth. He was trying to catch his breath, damn smoker lungs always made it hard for him to sing for long periods of time. “That was awesome!” Knaw shouted, reaching his arms towards the florescent lights above. Skeet simply nodded, returning to his usual silent state.

Hector was amazed at how into it these two got. He had to hold back laughs and clapping as the two sang by gripping his seat and biting his lip. He swayed back and forth as the song went on like a metronome to help keep himself in check.
Once the song finished he clapped happily and laughed. "Yah guys did great, hahaha~" he cheered as he sprayed mud around by smacking his hands together. Hector wasn't good at controlling himself, he was amazed he could wait this long to applaud the two's act. He was the assistant director for school plays, even if he'd yet to assist with anything. "So, any more requests kids?" he chirped, eager to start the next song.

Skeet turned from the other’s once his breath was back, he nonchalantly started sorting through the lyric pages again. Apparently Knaw didn’t need one after all. That was awesome, and probably why they were able to bounce around so much as they sang.

The little hunter stopped hopping up and down on his seat and plopped down on the squishy cushion on his butt. He stuck his tongue out in thought as he contemplated Hector’s offer. Well, now Knaw was all hyped up and kind of wanted to dance and act rather than sing. He looked back to Skeet, who in turn glanced over, /Uh…/ the smoker moved his gaze to the muddy teacher. /Wait, I think he’s actually the drama teacher./ Skeet returned his yellow eye to Knaw’s hooded ones, /Knaw, ask him why the school hasn’t had any plays yet./The tall smoker had been eager for the next theatrical production to start auditions.

Knaw turned his head enthusiastically towards Hector’s desk, large grin stretching across his face. “Mr. Teacher! When are we able to take Drama Club!? Me and Skeet wanna go in plays and stuff!” He raised his little hands in the air and wiggled his fingers. Both of the students looked like they were hanging on the edge of their seats for the answer.

“Mr. Teacher! When are we able to take Drama Club!? Me and Skeet wanna go in plays and stuff!” Knaw cheered. Well, that was a tough question for Hector to answer and made him scratch his head. He wasn't TECHNICALLY the drama teacher or anything. he just helped out.
"Well y'see...Ah dun really control that stuff, Ah just help with it. And Ah ain't met with the drama teacher...if we even have one...so...Ah dunno..." he said with a disappointed sigh. He would love to say he was able to do more but he couldn't.
