Another shitty day at work… Scuttle thought irritably as he threw a wet rag into the sink. The store still looked like a mess from the previous day. However, most of the dried blood and ice cream on the floor had been licked up by Scuttle’s puppies Cheesecake and Breadsticks. He usually brought them to work with him since his father didn’t allow pets in their house. Plus whenever ice cream fell to the floor, it saved Scuttle the trouble of cleaning up. Just like today. As rambunctious as puppies usually are, Cheesecake and Breaksticks were no different.

After about an hour of wriggling and playing with each other around the store, they had exhausted themselves and were currently taking a nap in the backroom. Scuttle had set up a semi-permanent home for them there; their food and water bowls, all of their toys and leashes, and an old box that used to hold plastic spoons with a nice soft blanket nestled within. He lifted a hand to idly scratch at his scruffy beard, wondering if all of the moving around had any negative effects on the puppies. It always made him feel bad when he had to keep his ‘children’ here at J.J. Scoops when he left for his home at night. Half the time he didn’t even think it was worth it to leave, after all his family did piss him off to no end. On nights he was feeling especially….’under the weather’, he just scooped up both of his puppies into his arms and curled up on a pile of paper towels in the corner for sleep.

The hunter sighed and then let his hand drop to his side. Shuffling towards the back door, he slowly pushed it open and peered inside. Over on the floor against the opposite wall was the small box full of blankets. Inside, were his two puppies sleeping soundly. Breadsticks was under Cheesecake, who was sleeping on her back with one spotted ear flopped over her brother’s nose. Squished between the two snoozing canines was their favorite plaything; a dilapidated stuffed rabbit that their breeder, Abril, had been kind enough to leave with them. He couldn’t help but smile. Just a little bit. Not even. Jeez! Get off his back about it already!

OK ok...seriously.

Kirk bit his knuckle gently while 'looking' down to the floor in which his feet touched, as he sat on the edge of his bed. He didn't even know why he was so worried, yet he did. The tall hunter shook his head- he had to just, go and do it. He had to break that little chain of regret that tied him down, like a dragon! Yeah. A big god damn dragon wouldn't have any problem doing this sort of thing. And he is the dragon. Fucking right he is.

He sighed and leaned down, grabbing the sides of Socca's face and mooshing them together. "I'm going to do it." he nodded, then flopped the dogs ears up and down to try and shake the feeling in his gut. "I'm going to do it, and it's all going to work out good, I promise." The rottweiler licked at Kirk's hand, not having even a feint clue so as to what he was talking about, but that didn't matter to him. He knew what he was going to do, and he was going to do it in the way only HE knew how.

Fashionably.

After he'd finally left his house and began walking down the street, he could feel himself stumble a little; tripping over his own feet? No, that was stupid...but it was true. "God- Damnet-" his claws were roughly shoved into his pockets and he let out a diminutive growl, towards nothing in particular. Was he really this clumsy? Normally like this, all the time? No. Was his mind always filled with this much worry and his nerves twitching with this much fear? Hardly. He paused and shook his head. There was nothing he could do to escape it now, it must be done, and it was GOING to be done, even if he had to force himself to do it. The air was brisk with a stinging coldness, and the tip of his nose red, his sinuses bitter with cleaning frustration. Fuck all of this stalling, it was time to finally do the deed.

A deep breath was taken into the hunter's lungs, and his legs began to move once again. He wasn't that far away; fuck, he could see the building from here. That's right Kirk ol' boy, move those legs...faster...

His pace picked up, mildly.

You're just overly excited, not scared.

He bit his lip.

Yeah.

His hands reached up, and tugged down on his beanie.

Come on.

He contempla-

RUN!

His legs carried him quick- he was a hunter after all. The air was refreshing, anyways. Deep huffs were exhaled out through his lungs and it felt like only seconds had bast before he BURST through the front doors of the ice cream parlor dubbed J.J Scoops. He was about to jump-! But...where...

Hold on-

Scuttle?

It was silent, but only for a moment. Kirk saw the other hunter turn from his place at the back door, his sockets wide. Say it now...say something. ANYTHING.

"...Hey," he grinned, all of the hope left in his body shining like that god damn star on top of the mother fucking Christmas tree.

Scuttle froze. Did he just hear what he thought he heard? That voice… His claws scraped against the door slowly as he made a fist. It couldn’t be. Scuttle sucked in a breath, his nose filling with that familiar scent that sometimes tormented him late at night when he was feeling rather…’stimulated’. Yeah let’s go with that. The hunter looked over his shoulders slowly, not exactly sure what to be expecting. He had suddenly felt tense and hadn’t even realized that his heart sped up and was pounding in his ears. His empty eye sockets widened when his sight fell upon someone he never thought he would see again.

“Kkgh-!” A surprised choking noise fought its way out of his esophagus. Out of reaction, he let go of the door he was holding and whipped his body around to face the new arrival. Scuttle was pressed up against the back wall, he wasn’t even sure that he was able to support himself on his own two legs. What? Whaaat? What is this?! He couldn’t even believe that Kirk, his best and first bro ever, was standing in front of him on the other side of the counter like he never even left town. The smaller hunter was hyperventilating silently, oh my god it felt like he was going to have a heart attack! If he was able to think coherently he would have smacked himself in the face for acting so ridiculous. His thoughts were racing like lightning; yet he couldn’t even bring himself to move from his frozen position. He was like a deer stuck in front of a pair of headlights; terrified.

After what seemed to be at least two minutes of just staring at each other, Scuttle closed his mouth. He hadn’t even realized it was hanging open slightly. After washing his tongue around in his mouth to get the saliva flowing again, his lips formed into a thin line. His eyebrows slowly begun to furrow. How fucking dare this motherfucker show himself like he didn’t do shit. Like he didn’t just leave me without a word for six months! Scuttle almost growled, but when he inhaled a breath through his nose to do so… Ah Jesus. That smell. That smell that was just… Kirk. Fuck. Scuttle never realized that just a simple scent from another person could affect him. He bit his tongue childishly while his cheeks grew warm. Now he definitely looked angry, but more about himself than anything. Fuuuck fuck fuck fuck. Why was he acting like such a bitch. If anything, he should have been stomping up to that bastard and punching him across that stupid face of his. Yeah…hopefully I would break his jaw again.

Still… Scuttle just… well he was feeling something strange welling up in the pit of his stomach. It was squirmy and nerve-wracking. Scuttle didn’t like it. Not at all. However, that feeling was pushing its way through his anger; overcoming it. He hissed loudly through his teeth and tongue, probably looking quite stupid and juvenile with his reddened face. There weren’t many times in Scuttle’s life when an emotion besides anger dominated his actions. Finally he willed his body to move and pushed himself roughly off the wall. He stood there for a moment to stare back at the taller hunter, drinking in his form, his scent. Everything. But soon it wasn’t enough. He wanted to touch Kirk- No, not even. He needed to touch him. Scuttle stepped forward timidly; Jesus man! Stop acting like such a pussy! This isn’t like you, faggot! Hsss! The visor wearing Hunter puffed his cheeks out and averted his stare to his feet. Then back up to Kirk’s face. Oh fuck, this is just… this is just painful. A small whine that was barely audible sounded from Scuttle. Yeah. Just pathetic. He chided to himself in his mind.

“B-bro…” His voice was trembling, not at all how he thought it would sound. He bit back his tongue and just flushed even more. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck… He stumbled forward around the counter, almost tripping over his own feet in the process and just bolted at the older hunter. He slammed himself around Kirk with his arms outstretched and the loosely grabbed at the other’s hoodie. “Oh G-god-!” His arms wrapped around Kirk’s thick body slowly, then he suddenly dug his claws into the dark blue fabric desperately as if it was a lifeline. Scuttle buried his face into Kirk’s chest, inhaling deeply and actually letting out a sad choked laugh as if a miracle had just happened. “Ffffuck…” Being close to Kirk like this again…it felt…well he actually felt happy for the first time in a long time. A very long time.

Another Day, Another Dollar Empty Re: Another Day, Another Dollar

Post  RapturesSaviour Sat Nov 19, 2011 9:27 pm

The silence was like dead air, almost as if there wasn't any oxygen in the entire room- why the fuck was it so hard to breathe? Oh god, Kirk could have sworn there was no air. He could feel the lack of oxygen in his body, he could feel the purple flush over his face-

Scuttle facial features moved-

Kirk breathed. Shit, he had just been holding his breath. How did he not even notice? God. He didn't mean to be rude, but he couldn't stop staring. It was like something was forcing his eyes to be glued to the smaller hunter before him that was being so silent...so very silent. And his expression moved slowly. So slow, as if everything was in slow motion, like time its self had been slowed down. It wasn't comfortable though, because the look he was getting was...angry. Oh god, Kirk could feel the regret bubbling, he should have said something. He should have done something so this wouldn't happen; so Scuttle wouldn't have to be and feel like this. What words would he say? What would he do? He knew he needed this visor wearing jackass in his life.

Then the stunned hunter moved. A gasp nearly escaped Kirk's mouth, but he swallowed it, and flinched instead. It was so unpredictable. He had no idea what to expect, and no idea what Scuttle was feeling, or relaying- so he didn't even know how to express himself. This was so fucked up, but so right. The second Scuttle took a step forward, the emotions were becoming more clear. The step was quite hesitant; timid even, and Kirk felt as if he could finally relax his features and his whole body in general. So much, the he was nearly slouching. You are welcome...into my...arms...

"Scuttle..." Kirk returned the voice gesture, and suddenly everything made sense. He knew what was going to happen, and he was ready for it when it did. He gently grunted as his friend violently threw himself into a hug that seemed as if it was going to last a long time. And boy was it. Kirk wrapped his strong arms around the other, returning the warm embrace that he'd longed for for so god damn long. It felt good. He could feel his muscles constricting the other- Oh shit, he hoped he wasn't going to kill him or something! But there was no calming down. He squeezed, and he couldn't help it.

"Oh my god I missed you so much you have no idea...Fuck I'm sorry." Kirk's claws stroked down Scuttle's clothed back gently. "I'll never leave you again, I promise. Never ever." a low rumbling radiated from the depths of his stomach and surged through his throat. He clung onto his smaller colleague. He hadn't really known the extent of his deprivation until now; now that they were hugging again, and he could feel all the emotions flushing through his mind, his body, hell, he was almost in tears. Maybe he was- he didn't even know anymore. It just felt so great to be able to hold this little bastard in his arms.

But now that Scuttle was in Kirk's arms, everything felt right. So normal...so, amazing. There was so many things he wanted to say and get off his chest, and show and do and- but he couldn't, not yet. He had to let it all settle down first, and allow Scuttle to possibly scold him first. He knew he wasn't going to go without a small scolding because hey, he deserved it. It was just the relief in the hug that made him want to do all these things. The relief of knowing that he was forgiven ahead of time, and knowing that he still had a chance to fix everything and make everything better for the both of them. He had the house all fixed up, he had everything under control, and he would never let it get out of...claw...again.

"Are you ok...please tell me you've been ok. You look fine...are you fine? Seriously this is fucking important..." Kirk clung tighter, gritting his teeth together while trying to calm himself. He would pull Scuttle back and take a good long look at him to soak in everything that he'd been missing, but he didn't have the heart to let go of the hug. He wanted to keep it strong, until it felt like it'd been long enough and was time to let go- but that sure as fuck wasn't any time within the next two minutes. The tall hunter closed his eyes, simply basking in the feeling that surrounded him and his friend. Yes...yes. Everything about this was perfect, and everything about it was just as he'd hoped it would be.

Everything.

His arms (and legs,) became weak, then slowly began to pull away from Scuttle. He didn't know how long it had been, but it felt like long enough and his muscles had started to become sore. (Believe him, that takes a bit.) "Shit..." he wheezed, rolling his neck a little as it had become stuck in a vexatious position through the deep, affectionate hug. "Fuck," his thought were scattered, now that he'd regained them back. "God...damnet." He stared at Scuttle, brows raised sympathetically.

Another Day, Another Dollar Empty Re: Another Day, Another Dollar

Hearing his name spoken by the other hunter nearly made Scuttle start bawling. But with his masculine pride at stake, he withheld those womanly emotions and let out an animalistic lament of pain. It wasn’t from the amount of strength Kirk’s arms were exerting; because fuck, Scuttle was squeezing back with just as much effort, but from relief. All of the regrets and guilt, the anger and the frustration from being alone felt like they were being lifted off his shoulders; drifting off away from his weary mind and dissipating into nothing. Kirk was back; here he was in his arms. That huge son of a bitch who Scuttle wanted to maul and love all at the same time. Scuttle wouldn’t let go for anything in the world right now. His face was squished against Kirk’s chest, they were grasping each other so tightly that he could barely breathe, let alone move. All of his senses were enveloped by Kirk’s scent; that smelled like he was freshly showered and actually clean. Scuttle groaned softly with his face this close against the other, he nuzzled it roughly against Kirk’s chest like he was trying to reach his heart. He felt the strong organ pulsating through Kirk’s strong ribcage and reverberate in his sensitive ears. Scuttle whimpered silently when the older hunter spoke, his words sounding too good to be true. The only thing that came from Scuttle’s mouth was choked back dry sobbing noises that were almost too muffled to hear. He wasn’t crying, fuck no. He was too happy to be crying. In the back of his mind, Scuttle thought he heard fabric ripping; it probably was, Scuttle’s claws were hooked deeply into Kirk’s sweater and had been pulling at it. The visor-wearing hunter had felt like his legs were melting after the first minute of being embraced; it had finally settled in that Kirk was here for good. And he wasn’t leaving him. Not again. Kirk had promised. This fucker better believe that he’s keeping that promise. For fucking forever… raged Scuttle. The only thing keeping him upright was his partner’s arms, for fuck’s sake, he was trying to hold himself up by clinging and the only thing that resulted with that was Kirk’s torn hoodie. The whole thought of Kirk actually promising that he was never going to leave again was overwhelming. Scuttle wanted it to be true. It just had to be, the pitiful hunter didn’t think he would be able to live on without it.

In Kirk’s arms, Scuttle felt small. Weak…but at the same time he didn’t mind. He remembered when taller infected pissed him off, they still did actually. But with Kirk, everything was different. Scuttle didn’t mind. In fact he loved it; he actually felt safe, protected when he was being held like this. Kirk was the one who has seen him at his weakest moment; the other hunter knew what he was like in his most vulnerable state. Although Scuttle felt the constant need to put a wall around himself that was five feet thick, right now that idea seemed tentative….He’ll do it later. When he didn’t feel like a clusterfuck of raw emotions. Ah this feels good…to not even give a fuck. After drifting down from cloud nine, Scuttle felt his face going numb. He hadn’t realized it but while his face was obscured by Kirk’s chest, he was smiling. Fuck, and it hurt. Scuttle tried to force it down but he couldn’t, the most he could do was just bite down on his lip and chew on it until it bled. Ahgh! Fuck! What is this, what am I even feeling right now?! I’m being so retarded. “FFFFFFFFFFFF….” He shuttered and desperately tried to pull himself up from his slouched position, not giving a shit about how pathetic he must have looked. His usually pale face actually felt like it was burning. The hunter knew what that typically meant. Oh fucking hell. Nooonononooo… Are you serious, god dammit?! Scuttle really, really wished that his cheek patches would hold their tits and maybe postpone his supplementary humiliation. “Nrrgh…” Scuttle gasped loudly and bit down on the front of Kirk’s hoodie as they held each other. Tears were leaking out of the corners of his eye sockets but he didn’t even notice; the small salty droplets were absorbed into the soft fabric his face was hidden against. He gnawed at the hoodie anxiously, wanting something stuffed in his mouth so embarrassing noises wouldn’t find their way past his lips.

When the two hunters first made physical contact, a searing pain had been throbbing up and down Scuttle’s left arm but it was ignored, much like his aching cheekbones. No, no. This moment was way more important compared to something as tedious as pain. Scuttle was ‘injured’ about a month ago and it was still healing. The damage had been quite severe, but it has had enough time to mostly repair itself. Under his hoodie sleeve, his bicep was neatly wrapped in a white bandage. It has been since it was nearly chewed off all those weeks ago. If Scuttle had felt any pain, he didn’t show it.

Fear flooded into Scuttle’s veins when he felt the older male pull away from him. No! The smaller hunter growled loudly and sunk his claws into Kirk further. It didn’t matter how much his body ached right now, he was not going to let Kirk go. He was not letting the stupid asshole leave him again! “Noo….” growled Scuttle lowly. He inhaled sharply through his nose and mouth which made a growl ripple through his body. Scuttle spit out Kirk’s hoodie. “Fucking asshole, don’t-!” A snarl erupted from his throat with each strained breath he took. The rage that had been simmering under his happiness was boiling up. This felt good, it felt better than before. Scuttle always felt good when he was angry; and now he was settling back into his comfort zone and was ready to take over as leader. The one who told the other what to do. Scuttle ripped his claws from Kirk, hoping it hurt a little and then took a step back. He held his claws out at his side like a handful of readied blades. He stared at the taller hunter with a glare so murderous it would have made blood curdle. He huffed angrily, chest rising and falling slowly as he tried to control his breathing. His voice rumbled darkly as he spoke the single word, “Explain.

Post  RapturesSaviour Fri Nov 25, 2011 4:08 am

Oh god, not this. Kirk already felt himself grow a little cold as Scuttle started pulling a fit once he tried to take a step back. He didn't like the sound of that growl; he knew he wouldn't see the end of it now. And once the claws which where like sharp little daggers digging into his back were ripped out mercilessly, he let out a silent hiss, along with a pained grunt. It did hurt, but he wouldn't say anything. He knew how to hold his breath- he wouldn't cry about a small wound. After all, he'd had much worse before.

For example, his body at one point had been covered in deep gashes that could have been life threatening if he didn't know a thing or two about how to deal with wounds properly. Another example, he'd had his head split open before which required serious staples; he was just so prone to pain, it wasn't something that he would express much of anymore (unless he broke something...he's not a god damn Spartan!) Even though there was that slight immunity to physical harm, he could still feel it- and right now it was effecting his mind more than anything. He knew that wasn't a good sign, and that he really was in the shit now. It was Scuttle, he couldn't have expected any less. Who was he trying to kid? Himself? Hah, he wished. It was due though, this, "Explanation". Possibly even over-due.

The tall hunter sucked in a deep breath and closed his sockets, trying to rid of the image that he'd sensed of his friend looking murderously towards him. It was not something that he liked to see, but he was sure he'd seen it before. There was almost no doubt that he'd seen a look like that before. He wasn't sure when or where, but god damnet he'd seen it.

"Alright, alright! Calm down would you? I know this is crazy as hell and got us both all wriled up and shit, but just take some deep breaths, because there's no reason to be...well, too mad," Kirk reached a hand up slowly and scratched gently at his beard. He was going to be honest with himself; he had no idea how to explain. There had been no intention to just leave like he did, and really, he knew Scuttle wasn't going to trust everything he said, and that he would instead hate it. Kirk didn't blame him. He was maybe even a bit thankful that Scuttle DIDN'T hate him. Yet.

"Well..." a cautious breath was sucked in- Kirk knew he didn't always say the right thing, and god damnet now wasn't the time to fuck it up. He knew there was not a chance he was going to slip by as innocent anyways, but just using the wrong words would make things worse for himself and he didn't exactly want that. Who would? "Ok, I'm just going to be honest and say what I'm thinking here..." he tapped at his chin with thought, and wrinkled his nose while his face tried to give off the best expression of sentimental knowings.

"I was getting some things with the house redone...and then some shit happened, which I totally didn't mean for it to, then I had to get the fuck out of town for a while- Before you say it, yeah I know I should have told you, but I didn't and I don't know why. I was an idiot clouded by jealousy, maybe?" the bulky hunter's head shifted slightly, his brows furrowing. Oh god, even just mentioning the word jealous got those feelings worked back up; you could see it through his entire posture, and expression. "I'm sorry, Scuttle. I mean it," he huffed, sliding the hand that was to his chin back behind his neck, and rubbed the nape gingerly.

"If there's anything I can do to make it up to you...just tell me. I mean, you know I'd already do anything for you anyways- but I don't want you to have a bitch fit all over me. I know I was a doof to go and do that, but it's over...and now I'm back! FOR GOOD! And now I wont leave you...again. Er..." Kirk hesitated, dwelling on the subject that made him sore. Shit, he knew it would be bad to bring it up so early, but he'd already made a false move- hesitation. "Uh...Ah, you're...are you...?" he attempted as best as he could to motion with his hands, asking a certain question-

He most likely looked like an idiot.

Oh God…Kirk was gonna try and be ‘honest’ here…Pft, this outta be good.

Scuttle stared at the other hunter in front of him as he spoke. He raised a single eyebrow as Kirk spoke, but then they soon both started furrowing in irritation. The longer Kirk rambled on, the more frustrated Scuttle felt like he was becoming. He reeled his head back and snorted in distaste when Kirk started to make some peculiar hand gestures. “…What?” hissed Scuttle angrily. He wasn’t quite sure what the large hunter was trying to get at, but Scuttle’s short temper was already about to snap. He didn’t need Kirk to be dancing around some sort of subject matter that honestly seemed inadequate and just… stupid.

“Stop.” Scuttle said curtly, tensing his shoulders up and standing up from his attacking position. The visor-wearing hunter let what Kirk had to say so far mull around in his head. His mouth was formed into a thin line as he inhaled and exhaled loudly through his nose. Let’s see here… Kirk left town because he had to renovate his house…. Scuttle didn’t buy that as the only reason to why he actually left town. His scarred eye sockets narrowed unknowingly under his visor. Something didn’t seem right and it was making Scuttle suspicious as fuck. “So…” he crossed his arms over his chest, he made sure to carefully think of his words before saying them. “Some….’shit happened’…? Hmm?” Scuttle raised his eyebrows at Kirk questionably to make sure he was correct so far. Ok, he didn’t give a shit either way. “What exactly does that mean?” He frowned, “What sort of jealousy is making you skip town?” Scuttle couldn’t help but fume exceedingly within his thoughts. What or who could make Kirk jealous enough to get the fuck out of the city? Something that isn’t me, god dammit!? This is fucking bullshit, I will rip his sorry excuse for balls right off and throw ‘em in a blender! Even though he was trying to seethe silently, (keyword: silently)Scuttle was never good at hiding his emotions. It was about thirty seconds into the irritable hunter’s mental rant when he realized he was hissing out loud.

Grunting, Scuttle shut himself up and chomped down on his lower lip. “And I don’t bitch-fit!” Scuttle felt his face flush and he dug his claws into his arm. “I am not a bitch,” he muttered before glancing up. No… Scuttle glared at Kirk’s stupid face. That position is saved for you, fucktard. “I don’t give a shit-I don’t want anything from you. Fuckyou, who said you could come back anyway! I don’t care if you stay or not!” The stubborn hunter snorted again and grit his teeth. Once the words left his mouth he instantly regretted them. Scuttle’s face began to feel warm again. He bit down on his tongue and made a disgusted noise at himself. “Tffcffhh…..” His eyebrows were knitted together as he started to shift awkwardly. Instead of apologizing, Scuttle quickly shuffled over to Kirk’s body and hugged him again. FFFF, God fucking…shit dammit! Nrugh… He squeezed Kirk tightly, wanting to make sure that…well…he wanted Kirk to know that he didn’t mean what he said. It was just something Scuttle couldn’t help but do when he felt helpless or threatened. Oh Jesus, with Kirk right here in his arms, he couldn’t imagine what his life would be without him. He felt so ashamed that someone could actually make him act so pathetic; pathetic and willing to let it keep happening.

There was no time for Kirk to say anything between Scuttle's angry little quips, and then that infuriated hissing noise that left the smaller hunter's mouth. Shit, he knew he said something wrong, and he knew that there was a lot that must be circulating in Scuttle's brain at the moment, because once he stopped he made it seem as if he had no idea he was even doing it. Kirk let his hands drop to his sides, and clacked his rings nervously. He knew what he was feeling, so he for once- didn't feel like a fuck up, exactly. He was being too vague with what he was saying, and Scuttle didn't even have a chance to completely understand.

He just needed to get it off his chest, and then hopefully this would be all better, as long as the answer was to his favor- he supposed.

But then, nasty words began to be tossed his way, and his sockets widened, only slightly with a take back from the words that hit him like a moving god damn wall. No, he knew Scuttle didn't mean that, he knew it. He knew it because he'd just hugged him seconds before- and, suddenly, he felt those smaller than his own, but muscular arms around him again. Yeah, he knew Scuttle didn't mean what he said. And because of so, Kirk returned the hug gently, rubbing his hand back up and down the back of the body that he'd missed so much. A deep sigh left through Kirk's nostrils, and he leaned down to nuzzle into the side of Scuttle's neck. 'You're forgiven...' God, despite how difficult, angry and hateful the smaller hunter was all the time, there was just not one part of Kirk's whole entirety that didn't love him. Even just having Scuttle hug him felt as if he'd died and gone to heaven. There was no way he was going to leave again- not even a chance. No way he'd give this guy up, not for the world.

"Ok...I'm sorry. That didn't come out right. Fff...I missed you." he temptingly poked the side of Scuttle's cheek with his thick nose. "Here, let me say this properly without making it impossible to understand," he backed up a second time, and hung his head. Kirk was scared of the answer, and he knew it. He was scared to ask as well, which was causing a large eruption in his stomach; a sickening feeling. He just needed to breath deeply, and ask coolly- then everything would be ok. Even if it wasn't what he wanted, he would just have to deal with it. He was a grown man, and she should be over these stupid feelings...

"Are..." he cringed at what he was about to say. "Are you...still with. Den...nis...?" his claws viciously rubbed back and forth between each other, the clicking of the rings like a quick beat. He could feel his heart speed up on his chest, but he tried not to express it, even if it was beginning to hurt a little. And as soon as he'd said that, he knew Scuttle would know now why he was jealous. Why he had left- well, one of the reasons, at least. The 'unexplained' reason. He didn't know why he wanted to throw up after saying that, but he tightened his throat purposely to make sure he wouldn't.

Oh fuck.

Oh god.

Another Day, Another Dollar Empty Re: Another Day, Another Dollar

Post  TenderFoot Sun Nov 27, 2011 5:04 am

A loud roar of fury escaped Scuttle’s throat before that name was even voiced. The lithe hunter pulled his shoulders back and bent his knees into a defensive stance. His face twisted into a muddled expression of unbridled bloodlust and ferocity. He didn’t want to hear it; he didn’t want to be reminded of that time or anything associated with...well…Fuck the world! That time not too long ago when he was a complete idiot; the shame, the foolishness- Scuttle would rather kill himself then repeat any minuscule fraction of that occasion. The small hunter didn’t even realize his anger could suddenly flare up that quickly; it surprised him but right now he held no concern for the matter. He was aware that his breathing was heavy and quick, earning deep rumbling growls with each pant. Scuttle’s claws became readied once more and he gnashed his teeth almost unwillingly.

Yes, Scuttle would rather wipe all of his memories of his stupidity all those months ago. Everything that did happen, occurred within a short period of time. Yet, Scuttle believed he learned enough from that horrible mistake for the rest of his eternal lifetime. He made himself sick; the humiliation he put himself through- Fuck! Another inhuman bark of aggression snarled past the rows of his sharp teeth. The hunter’s face burned from shame. Fuck fuck fucking God damn stupid! Stupid stupid, mother fucking dumbshit fuckshit! Scuttle’s mind was a raging typhoon as he belittled himsef; all he could focus on was his undying hate for his actions and how much regret was pulsing through his veins. Jesus Christ, he couldn’t get over with how disgusted he was with himself. It was the most vile and revolting thing in Scuttle’s mind- what he had done. God, he had been so fucking stupid. Disgraceful! His pride writhed and thrashed in the pit of his stomach like a snake that was just stabbed through the body and left to suffer. The foolish hunter remembered how embarrassing he had acted, ugh! He had been so naïve; everything he had sought to degrade and tear down in the world he had done! A stupid… revolting… nauseating lovesick dumbass! It maddened him to think about all the emotions he went through with that fucking bastard. He sure was fucking fooled…absolutely sickening! “I don’t know who the fuck you’re talking about…sssskkk…” Scuttle flickered his tongue over his teeth and curled his lip back as if something bitter was swashing around in his mouth. He spit on the ground in front of him and quickly wiped his chin with the back of his sleeve. With all of his profuse snarling, saliva started dripping through his teeth and down his jaw. He was caught up in a seize of barbaric reactions; red and turmoil stormed through mind. Great waves of pure detest and revulsion rolled off his body in great waves. The atmosphere of the small ice cream shop had turned violent in a matter of seconds.

So much… so much god damn regret. Scuttle wished so hard to just disappear off the face of the earth and never be reminded of his stupid behavior. It was getting hard to breath and the short hunter felt like he was about to throw up. He needed something to distract himself, he needed to stop thinking about thiiiisss…. It brought his mind pain. Uncontrollable grief and aching. Quickly, Scuttle’s arms rushed over his chest and he began holding himself. It was pathetic; here he was…the forever alone hunter trying to hug himself to ease the pain. Finally, he was being reminded of his sins. The excruciating anguish drenching his form in endless buckets was payment for all of the terrible things he had done. He had always got it his way, whatever he wanted… crushing others and bringing down their souls as he did so. Karma finally wriggled her way into Scuttle’s path and relished the torture she bestowed upon his undeserving essence. The hunter’s eyebrows tilted upward for a split second before furrowing again; in that second he looked so hopeless. Alone.

“I don’ttt…” Scuttle heaved slowly, “…know what you’re talking about…” His lips twitched back over his teeth every second, switching between the emotions wrath and agony. The hunter bit down on his lip and stifled a pained grunt. Scuttle was looking off to the wall now, yet his right hand was clamped tightly around his left bicep. His claws were dug in through the thin fabric of the grey hoodie and bandages. Underneath his scabs were being pierced and cracked, shooting pain up his arm. I need to get rid of it. It never happened. Itneverhappened. The fingers convulsed around his arm, causing the sharp and long claws to sink deeper into the damaged muscle. Yes… yes. I’m stupid. Just a stupid fucktard who doesn’t need a fucking… It’s gone! I don’t need it… His fingers wriggled deeper into his arm, his claws were deep and buried an inch into his raw bloodied flesh. A small and quiet cry left Scuttle’s mouth. He was struggling to calm himself down; he didn’t want to rip off his skin like he did when he lost it a few months ago. One night it had just become too much for him to handle- the mental torment. Scuttle couldn’t even recall that night, he had blacked out.

He let out a shaky sigh when he felt warm blood begin to trickle down his arm and blot through the white bandages that were wrapped around the gash. Instant relief flooded through his body when the pain in his arm inflamed. Slowly, Scuttle’s breaths slowed down and became thin. His nostrils were still flared, but with a newfound tranquility. He wiped his mind from chaos and focused on the pain radiating from his wound. Ah…this felt much better. Scuttle glanced down at his arm, seeing his own hand clamped tightly around his limb like a strong eagle’s talon. He tried to remove it but he couldn’t move his fingers, they were locked in place. Pursing his lips, Scuttle pulled his arm back and ripped his hand off. He didn’t even wince when the serrated claws tore at his flesh. He let his mangled arm flop to his side and he stared at the floor. Kirk was probably staring at him right now, judging him. Oh…fuck…great. He clenched his fist that was at his side, his other hand had returned to holding himself pitifully. He breathed in sharply, “…No….I’m…” Scuttle paused uncomfortably, “…single.” He closed his eye sockets. Just like it’s supposed to be….

Another Day, Another Dollar Empty Re: Another Day, Another Dollar

Post  RapturesSaviour Mon Nov 28, 2011 1:21 am

It caught Kirk completely off guard, the loud roar, and he nearly stumbled back. Jesus god damn Christ, he was not expecting that. His sockets were wide, and his mouth nearly hung open- but he made sure to keep it tightly shut. Instead, the jaw muscle flexed, and he let out a huff. Just watched Scuttle, he could see all the pain and regret. The anger that radiated from the smaller hunter saturated the entirety of the air that filled the ice cream shop. Kirk felt as if there was not much he could do, and really, there wasn't. He watched as Scuttle fussed, gripping his arm, hugging himself, and mumbling angry little quips. Even though Kirk knew what the answer was going to be the whole time, and that it should be a good thing for himself, he couldn't help but feel guilty and even a bit sad to see his friend in this state.

He remembered what it used to be like. He remembered the feelings, the emotions. And now they were most likely destroyed- Oh god, Kirk slumped, eyebrows tilting upwards with worry and sorrow. Now he had more than one thing to feel rotten for; First thing was for simply just leaving, second was for leaving while Scuttle was like THIS. While Scuttle was most likely torn apart and full of...whatever it was that filled his mind. Maybe anguish? Maybe longing. Maybe even a deep loneliness; or maybe even all three. Shit. Kirk swallowed a whine that wanted to escape from his throat, hell no he wasn't going to pull that shit right now. He had to take a step forwards, and he needed to take care of this. Before he could, however, Scuttle had removed his one hand from his arm, and that's when the thick scent of blood filled the tall hunter's nostrils. Oh fuck. He narrowed his sockets carefully, and there it was. A shimmering blood red colour dripping from Scuttle's fingers.

Kirk sucked in a quick breath, then held it. He wanted to say something, but he didn't want to upset his friend again (because it appeared he had calmed down for the moment.) He would just let it go, for now, and try to be gentle about all of this. Yes, that seemed like the perfect approach. What could he do? Scuttle had just tore into his arm, hugged himself, seethed, and admitted he was single. What the fuck could Kirk do? He didn't feel any words rising to take a dive- He figured that was for the best, though. Instead, he could feel his muscles twitching.

A hug.

Yeah, that would suffice for any words that would even dare try and escape his thoughts and make its self vocal- The bulky hunter stepped over to his dear friend, and carefully, gently, wrapped his arms around the lithe body that belonged to the other. It was warm; the feeling inside, and the space between them. No words were to be exchanged, just acceptance. Acceptance, and a brotherly, maybe more, love. He wouldn't worry about that yet though. That could be saved for later once things managed to calm down even if just a little.

But right now, all that mattered was the hug.

The knowing, comforting hug.

Third time's the charm.

Another Day, Another Dollar Empty Re: Another Day, Another Dollar

Post  TenderFoot Mon Nov 28, 2011 3:54 am

The small hunter felt warmth envelop his body and slowly seep into his veins. Scuttle let Kirk gently wrap his strong arms around him. He started trembling slightly under the other hunter’s touch. The rage filled eruption that escaped a minute ago had left him worn out and shaking. So many emotions and regretful memories bursting out at once after they had built up over the past year had left him exhausted and emotionally drained. It was a terrible experience remembering his foolishness, but now maybe he would at least be able to confide in someone.

Scuttle stood there as Kirk hugged him, his one arm was trapped against his chest by Kirk’s body but he didn’t mind. The other hand that dangled by his side twitched faintly before he lifted it around Kirk’s waist. He rolled his face to the side, resting his cheek on the taller hunter’s shoulder. He wanted to sob; he didn’t deserve to be held like this by another. He was cruel to the world and didn’t earn the right to be happy. Once he thought that everything would work out for him, but that idea lashed violently with recoil and left deep scars in its wake. Even though his eye socket’s burned, no tears were released. He had drowned himself in self-pity over the summer, suffering through the worse with no one but his small puppies. He would gather the tiny furred creatures on his bed and curl around them under his covers, completely hidden and basically shunned by everyone else. Scuttle had slowly recovered when he realized that it was over. Nothing would be the same for him again; no one was here to feel any sort of affection towards him. He had been abandoned and he finally came to the revelation that he shouldn’t have gotten involved with that stupid shit in the first place. He told himself that letting people close to you only got you hurt. He told everyone who opened their god damn mouth to him that same fact. But…that was all a distant memory to the hunter. He had gotten over it and closed himself from any sort of relationship or love that came his way. Scuttle had a more knowledgeable outlook on the world, he had learned. He was still arrogant, just a lot colder. His words would always snap from his teeth in short, low and snide remarks. Scuttle kept everyone away from him; he didn’t want to deal with any sort of bullshit for the rest of his life. He thought he was going to be like that for however long he had left on this world; guarded and safe. Only trusting himself.

Kirk… fucked up his perfect future royally up the ass. With Kirk here he didn’t know what to do. He was confused and distraught even though he tried to snuff out that tiny glimmer of hope that wriggled out of his protective walls. Scuttle sniffed loudly and turned his head around to face the other way towards Kirk’s neck. He shyly nosed his way closer and bumped against Kirk’s neck with the brim of his visor. “…Thanks…” he moved closer and tucked his head under Kirk’s strong jaw, nodding his head up slightly. “Thank you for… coming back..” Scuttle’s voice was quiet, expecting it to waver if he made it any louder. He sniffed again and grasped at Kirk’s hoodie desperately. The pair of hunter’s hung onto each other for a long pause. What now Scuttle wondered with dread edging his mind, What’s going to happen now… He bit down on his lip and gnawed at it, an annoying habit he seemed to pick up. Scuttle hooked his claws into Kirk’s hoodie. Don’t leave.

Another Day, Another Dollar Empty Re: Another Day, Another Dollar

To be quite honest without speaking words, Kirk was actually significantly thankful that Scuttle took this as lightly as he did. Instead of some of the heart breaking things he could have said, done, or the fact that he could have just not done anything at all- well, it made Kirk thankful. Of everything he could have experienced or felt, he was just god damn thankful, and a whole lot of relieved.

Even though he left for reasons more than one, there was every part of his heart that had hoped that Scuttle would still be willing to share this bond with him. A friendship bond. A bond that he had never felt with anyone else ever before, and to be quite frank, never wanted to share with anyone else. His grip around the smaller hunter tightened, and he let out a content sigh. He almost regretted it though, because he knew this moment maybe wasn't as happy as he was making it all out to be-

How could he forget there was still going to be a lot of work needed done here? He knew he wasn't done making his friend feel better yet, and who knew how long it would take to entirely do so. The last few words that were silently drifted to the deep cavity that was his ear, and into his processing drum which delivered the signal of the true meaning to his brain, (lmao I'm so tired) however, caused him to smile. A big smile. Hell, even the word grin would suffice. It melted his heart- the hunter shook his head.

"No Scuttle....thank you for letting me come back." Kirk cuddled into the (terrible,) but familiar scent of his dearest friend. God, he really needed to take care of that smell...but that could be worried about on a later date.

The claws hooked into the hoodie were not a blind spot, and Kirk knew he wasn't going to let go until Scuttle was ready this time. He didn't know what was going to happen, he really didn't, but whatever it was, he hoped it was better than things that had happened to him in the past. Gentle breaths circulated through his respiratory system, and he allowed things to be as they were.
But again, he felt as if he had to say something-
Maybe to make it not awkward? He wasn't sure, but he was going to do it.

"So...when do you get off work? Are you...busy?" hesitation, but small enough to be without a label.

"I mean, I would like to spend some time with you..."

Another Day, Another Dollar Empty Re: Another Day, Another Dollar

Post  TenderFoot Mon Dec 05, 2011 7:11 am

Always with the god damn cheese…. Scuttle remembered how romantic Kirk always had to be when they had delicate conversations like this. He sighed affectionately and sank into Kirk’s body and relaxed. He missed this so much… Scuttle began nestling his face against Kirk’s neck, feeling the need to get even closer to the older male. Not really trying to be graceful at all, he stumbled over Kirk’s large feet and stepped on them, raising himself up a few inches to allow himself to press his cheek against the other hunter’s. A small worm of excitement wriggled through Scuttle’s stomach as he clambered over Kirk. He pulled down on Kirk’s hoodie with his hooked claws to get some leverage as he anxiously nuzzled the other hunter’s face. Kirk’s rough beard rubbed against Scuttle’s stubble, making scratchy and coarse noises that make him shudder impatiently. He moved his face against Kirk’s almost like a large cat would rub its muzzle on a scratching post. He rubbed harder against the wiry hair finding the slight sting enjoyable. Then he playfully nosed Kirk’s cheekbone and grinned widely because he couldn’t fight it down, and he knew Kirk would be able to feel it. Scuttle’s claws hooked and un-hooked at the back of Kirk’s hoodie while he flexed his hands and tried to just touch every part of the larger hunter that he had missed.

It had been so long since Scuttle had been this close to another being willingly; his body pounced at the chance for some overdue bro-cuddles. The 22-year old must have looked incredibly silly right now as he clung to the other fully-grown male. The J.J. Scoops visor that had been securely strapped around Scuttle’s head was now askew from being shoved by Kirk’s, but Scuttle didn’t care. He was so happy right now that he actually felt himself start to purr. Holy shit! He couldn’t even remember the last time he had done that, fuck…. Scuttle was almost positive that he had even forgotten how to do it! Before the rumbling purr from Scuttle’s chest could grow louder and more confident, he stopped.

The smaller hunter stepped down from Kirk’s shoes and blinked up at him with empty eye sockets. “Uh….” Scuttle looked up at the analog clock that hung on the wall adjacent to the counter. Wait, why was he even looking at the time? “No, I can leave whenever I feel like it.” He looked to Kirk, flashing a tiny smirk at the end, “Remember?” The smirk widened into a toothy grin that always seemed to look cruel when it was on Scuttle’s face. He confidently placed his hands on his hips, suddenly feeling more comfortable. It was like they hadn’t even separated all those months ago. “So how long has it been since you got into the city-?” He was cut off by a gentle scratching sound on a door. The visor-wearing hunter jerked his head over his shoulder towards the back room.

Through the push door, a small pink nose was poking out of the frame at the side. It sniffed the air twice and then sneezed, the sheer force sending it back behind the door. There was a moment of silence until, Fwump! A small white puppy adorned with caramel-yellow spots burst through the swinging door with a determined head butt. She rolled over herself a few times in a pudgy pile until she came to a stop. Butt in the air, she opened her tiny eyes and found herself cross-eyed, staring directly at her nose. Snorting, she shook her head, pink collar jangling cheerfully.

“Cheesecake!” Scuttle shouted, almost forgetting that his puppies were taking a nap in the backroom. He grinned and looked to Kirk, “You remember her, right?” The infected looked back to his little baby wrapped in fur and bent his knees a little, “C’mere baby!” He clicked his tongue twice and patted his thighs with his hands, trying to beckon her over. Cheesecake looked up at Scuttle, who she saw as her father, caretaker, best friend, and tilted her head. Then the small rabbit sized puppy slowly moved her stare towards Kirk. She stared at him for a good while and then tilted her head ninety degrees. Her butt was planted to the tile floor and she was not going to be moving anytime soon, Scuttle could tell. Used to this behavior from his derp princess, Scuttle let out a defeated sigh and let his arms flop to his sides. He then jogged over, and scooped her up in one fluid motion. Propping her up on one of his arms like a baby, Scuttle made sure she felt secure and comfortable. He cooed down at her and smiled, rubbing her belly with a single finger, making sure to not poke her with his sharp claw. The hunter turned back around and walked over to Kirk, looking up from Cheesecake once he was close. “You remember this little troublemaker, don’t ya?” He grinned at Kirk and raised a questioning eyebrow towards the other infected.
